Kensington Primary School
Kensington
Amity was engaged to deliver a fully refurbished heritage building and new external student amenities on behalf of the Victorian School Building Authority.
Key Features:
Open learning spaces
New passenger lift
DDA access
Classic blue stone entrances
Acoustic finishes
First constructed in 1881, the interior finishes of Building A were fully refurbished to create open learning spaces throughout. While refurbishing the spaces, there was a high importance placed on providing an internal and external upgrade whilst still highlighting the quality of the heritage elements that were reserved. The inclusion of a new passenger lift provided greater accessibility for students to level 1 of the building whilst maintaining key heritage elements. This project was undertaken in a live environment over several stages. The upgrade of acoustics to the building has provided the school with a contemporary long-term solution to the school acoustic requirements.
